Those marked the largest returns ever posted by the world’s largest cinema chain, eclipsing the previous all-time high established in the second quarter of 2026, led by “Project Hail Mary and “Michael.” This was AMC’s second consecutive record-setting quarter. Prior to this year’s rebound, AMC’s quarterly revenue benchmark was set in the second quarter of 2019, when “Avengers: Endgame” was released and shattered any and all box office expectations.

Today, we can finally say that AMC has recovered,” AMC’s CEO Adam Aron wrote in a statement.
“To our studio partners, lenders, business partners, employees and our millions of passionate shareholders, thank you for standing with us as we traveled through a long, and at times brutal, road. Mere survival was never the goal.
Our goal ultimately was to thrive, and that is exactly and precisely where our focus now lies. We are highly energized by the tremendous opportunities ahead.” Aron attributed the better-than-expected quarter to several factors, including the rising popularity of premium large formats, the A-List subscription service and a resurgent box office.
This summer was the best since COVID, as “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” became the third-highest grossing movie in history with $2.5 billion and Nolan’s ‘The Odyssey” powered to an astounding $1.8 billion. Overall domestic revenues have already eclipsed $8 billion, a milestone the industry didn’t cross last year until December.
With potential juggernauts like “Avengers: Doomsday,” “Dune: Part III” and “The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping” still on schedule, this year will easily be the biggest at the box office in post-pandemic times. Now when people are going to the movies, they’ve been more likely to indulge in popcorn and soda.
AMC’s food and beverage revenue hit $589.5 million for the three-month period, up from the $451.8 million a year earlier. Meanwhile Admissions revenue rose to $954.5 million, an increase from the $715.1 million a year earlier.
Losses also shrank for AMC. The company’s net loss was $109.3 million, compared to the $298.2 million in losses from a year earlier.
It logged a diluted loss per-share of 12 cents, having reported a loss of 58 cents in the prior-year quarter.
